City makes progress on refuse hiring, encourages more applications
The City of St. Louis is making progress in hiring refuse workers, but there are still openings in this department.
You'll operate heavy automotive vehicles that lift and load refuse, yard waste and recycling containers into trucks and then drive them to a landfill.
New hires will be eligible for a $3,000 bonus after completing a work testing period.
Pay and benefits are competitive.
Free, virtual training as a Digital Marketing Analyst
You still have two days to enroll in a free, virtual, 10-week program to jump-start your career as a Digital Marketing Analyst.
This is a partnership between St. Louis Community College and Generation USA.
It's designed for beginners who have had zero to very basic exposure to the marketing industry.
Digital marketing analysts generally perform the following tasks:
- Manage client relationships.
- Execute tasks as outlined in a digital marketing strategy or plan.
- Create quality content, including blog, photo, and video content.
- Track, analyze, and interpret data and campaign outcomes.
- Perform actions for social media campaigns.
The program starts June 29 and online classes are Monday to Friday, 9 to 5 p.m.
A high school diploma or GED is required.
Sam’s Club, UPS hiring
Sam's Club is hiring for several positions and is hosting a job fair Wednesday, June 29.
This is an in-person event at the Sam's location at 5112 Lemay Ferry Road.
It runs from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Dress code is casual (come as you are, but please be presentable).
Job requirements:
- Must be 16 years or older for Member Frontline, Member Assist, and Member Specialist positions; 18 years or older for all other positions
You do need to RSVP ahead of time.
And UPS is also hosting an in-person hiring event Wednesday, June 29.
It runs from 2 to 4 p.m. at their location at 13818 Rider Trail North in Earth City.
You do need to fill out an application ahead of time.
Free youth Metro passes still available
The St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE) is accepting applications for the Gateway Go Youth Transit program.
Funded through the American Rescue Plan Act, the program offers free transit for 3,000 city youth ages 13 - 25 through the rest of 2022; previously, passes only ran through the summer months.
If you're interested, you'll need to pre-register here.
After registering, SLATE will follow up with individuals to schedule times to visit the SLATE offices at 1520 Market Street to apply.
If eligible, applicants will receive their transit passes on the spot during their visit. Those under 17 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Applicants must present proof of age, proof of residence, as well as proof of income or reside in a Qualified Census Tract (QCT).
