Career Central: Winter starts Thursday, but St. Louis County plans to host summer job fair

The fair is set for Dec. 19 from Noon to 3 p.m., and camp counselors and lifeguards are in high demand.

ST. LOUIS — Now is the time to start making plans for the summer of 2024.

Yes, temperatures are in the 30s, but planning a summer job could be just the activity to keep away the winter blues.

The St. Louis County Department of Parks and Recreation, along with Midwest Pool Management will host a job fair on Tuesday, Dec. 19, from Noon to 3 p.m. at the North County Recreation Complex, 2577 Redman Road.

Open positions include camp counselors, seasonal laborers, aquatic front desk, and concession staff.

Midwest Pool needs lifeguards, pool supervisors and outdoor pool attendants.

Job fair participants are encouraged to bring a resume, but it's not required.

St. Louis Dept. of Public Safety needs corrections officers

The City of St. Louis Department of Public Safety's Division of Corrections needs to fill several open positions.

Correctional Officer II and Correctional Shift Supervisor jobs are open.

You must be 21 or older with some previous experience and/or college credit hours.

No city residency is required.

To be considered for this position applicants must be available to work all shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays and to work at the assigned City Correctional institution.

When necessary, Correctional Officers must be able to work mandatory overtime. Candidates must provide their availability for shift and weekend assignments on the Availability Section of the Employment Application.
