Career Central: Federal Bureau of Prisons hosts hiring fair, Abbott EMS offers free training

If you’ve ever wanted to be an emergency medical technician (EMT), Abbott Ambulance is offering free training in an “earn while you learn” program.

ST. LOUIS — Explore new career opportunities with the Federal Bureau of Prisons and Abbott EMS.

Federal Bureau of Prisons hiring

The Federal Bureau of Prisons will host a job fair Wednesday, April 12, 2023.

It runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the FCI Greenville Training Center, 100 U.S. Route 40, Greenville, Illinois, 62246.

There are immediate openings for correctional officers, nurses, physicians and more.

These are full-time positions that come with paid training, benefits, vacation and 401(k) pensions.

There are open jobs across all 122 institutions nationwide for those who would like to relocate.

The bureau is also offering $10,000 signing bonuses. Bonuses are higher for medical staff.

Salaries start at $47,533 and go up to $100,694.

Abbott EMS offers “Earn While You Learn” program

Earn a paycheck while undergoing training to be an emergency medical technician (EMT).

Abbott EMS is offering an “earn as you learn” program where you can undergo training for certification and get paid during the process.

Once you’re certified, EMT jobs come with competitive salaries and benefits.

Applicants to the training program must be 18-years old, show proof of a high school diploma or GED, have all required immunizations, and complete a background check, drug test and physical agility test.

Applicants have a choice of attending training sessions in either Belleville, Illinois, or St. Louis.

Registration is underway for the session that begins in June.
