Career Central: IRS to host direct hiring event for revenue agents

The hiring event is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in working for the IRS in one of several offices in Missouri.

ST. LOUIS — The IRS is actively hiring all over the country for thousands of positions.

It plans to hold a direct hiring event in Kansas City to fill jobs all over the state of Missouri, including 30 positions in the St. Louis office.

The event is scheduled for Tuesday, August 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Stoney Creek Hotel, 18011 Bass Pro Drive Independence, MO 64055

In spite of the distance some applicants will have to travel for the fair, this is the fastest way to be hired by the IRS.

"At the direct hire event, you're going to be pre-qualified there, you're going to be finger printed there, we have interview panels you're going to be interviewed right there," said Tom Murdoch, Special Agent-In-Charge, IRS Criminal Investigations, St. Louis Field Office. "So at the end of the day, you could walk out with a tentative job offer."

This event is an effort to hire both revenue agents for main IRS positions, and Special Agents for the Criminal Investigation division.

IRS Special Agents are sworn federal law enforcement officers that use their accounting skills with law enforcement skills to investigate financial crimes.

Applicants do need to meet certain education and physical requirements.
