The grocery store chain is one of several places hosting job fairs this week.

ST. LOUIS — Job seekers across the St. Louis area have several options and opportunities in the local labor market. This week, there are a variety of hiring fairs and entities looking for employees.

Dierbergs hosts management hiring fair

Dierbergs grocery chain is hosting a hiring fair Tuesday, April 19 to fill assistant manager and manager trainee jobs.

This is an in-person event from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at Dierbergs' corporate office at 16690 Swingley Ridge Road in Chesterfield.

911 dispatchers needed

The City of St. Louis is looking for 911 dispatchers.

The job involves receiving and evaluating telephone calls in the police division's 911 call center, dispatching police units, redirecting calls to EMS dispatch, fire equipment dispatch or other agencies and performing REJIS (Regional Justice Information System) and MULES (Missouri Uniform Law Enforcement System) searches for missing and wanted/warrant vehicle and person records.

Pay starts at about $20 an hour with benefits.

SLATE job fair looks to fill vacant St. Louis positions

Interested in a job with the city's Parks, Recreation, and Forestry Department?

The St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE) is helping the City Personnel Department recruit full-time and seasonal workers.

It will host another hiring fair Tuesday, April 19 at the SLATE office, which is located at 1520 Market Street on the third floor. 

Registration starts at 8 a.m. and will continue until noon.

The department is especially looking for lifeguards, full-time and seasonal utility workers, recreation assistants and tree trimmers.

You do not have to be a city resident to qualify for seasonal jobs. These positions pay $15 an hour and come with competitive benefits.

Regional partners to hold STL Manufacturing and Distribution Career Fair

There's another St. Louis Manufacturing and Distribution Career Fair coming up soon.

It's happening Thursday, April 21 from 1-6 p.m. at the headquarters of Conflux Co-Learning at 8221 Minnesota Avenue.

Conflux Co-Learning is joining forces with the Office of Workforce Development and Missouri Department of Higher Education for this event.

The goal is to help manufacturers and distributors fill numerous open positions.

It’s free and open to the public.

Job seekers and students interested in machining, welding, robotics, logistics, warehouse operations, supply chain management, automation, maintenance, engineering, customer service, sales and accounting are welcome.

Many available positions do not require a college degree, and some companies are offering full benefits, signing bonuses or opportunities for career growth.

The SLATE team will be at the career fair to provide information about services, programs, courses and other job-seeking resources for those looking for career opportunities in the industry.

City of St. Louis, in partnership with Metro Transit, offering free transportation passes to 3,000 eligible city youth

The St. Louis Agency on Training and Employment (SLATE) is accepting applications for the Gateway Go Youth Transit program.

Funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), the program offers free transit for 3,000 city youth ages 13-25 through the rest of 2022; previously, passes only ran through the summer months.

This expansion of the Gateway Go Youth Transit program will widen access for our youth, whether going to work, school or other activities that promote well-being, advancement and career development.

If you're interested, you'll need to pre-register here.

After registering, SLATE will follow up with individuals to schedule times to visit the SLATE offices at 1520 Market Street to apply. If eligible, applicants will receive their transit passes on the spot during their visit. Those under 17 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Applicants must present proof of age, proof of residence, as well as proof of income or reside in a Qualified Census Tract (QCT).
