Better Family Life kicks off summer-long Grill to Glory program

For one group, the key to ending violence is bringing the community together, one hot dog at a time.

ST. LOUIS — Every Saturday afternoon, more than 50 churches in the City of St. Louis will invite their communities out for hot dogs and family fun. It’s all part of Better Family Life Inc’s Grill To Glory program.

“This is not an anti-crime initiative,” Better Family Life VP of Community Outreach James Clark said. “This is about putting the church back at the center of the community.”

While Clark said the event is not focused on crime, he believes increasing churches’ influence in their communities will have the ripple effect of cutting down on crime.

“The people who are in need, the people who are committing violence are walking past our churches every day,” Pastor Clinton Stancil said. “We’re going to change that.”

Stancil was one of dozens of pastors who kicked off the program last Saturday. The churches will continue Grill To Glory every Saturday through the summer.
