The death of Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs on Monday has the entire baseball community sharing their condolences and memories.
St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Jack Flaherty was especially close with the late Skaggs, and shared a tribute to him on Twitter on Tuesday.
Flaherty and Skaggs were both California kids, with Flaherty attending Harvard-Westlake High School in Los Angeles, and Skaggs attending Santa Monica High School.
Skaggs and the Angels had just finished up a series with St. Louis on June 23, where Skaggs pitched five shut out innings against the Cardinals in the series finale, picking up the win.
Flaherty said in his post the two friends were able to catch up over dinner while Skaggs was in town.
Flaherty is scheduled to pitch on Tuesday night in Seattle, a day after his friend's passing.
