LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Charles, Prince of Wales, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall will visit Louisville March 20 as part of a four-day American tour for the man first in line to the British throne.
An announcement on the prince's website said Charles and Camilla "will highlight the work being done by members of the local community and charitable organizations to protect, preserve and promote the health and well-being of the people of Louisville through community cohesion, clean air and food literacy initiatives."

Louisville Metro Police spokesman Dwight Mitchel said the department's dignitary protection team will assist with the visit of the royals.
The city "will provide services and security as we would for any head of state or future head of state," said Chris Poynter, a spokesman for Mayor Greg Fischer. "We've been working with the team from England and others."

The March 17-20 U.S. visit will also include stops at the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Washington, site of the Lincoln Cottage, where it is believed Abraham Lincoln wrote the last draft of the Emancipation Proclamation. The royals will also visit Mount Vernon, home of George Washington, and the National Archives to mark the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta.
The Prince of Wales has visited the United States 21 times, including private trips, since 1970. His last visit was in May 2011 when he visited President Barack Obama at the White House and gave the keynote speech at a conference on sustainable agriculture at the Future for Food Conference at Georgetown University.

In Louisville, Charles will address a symposium of health practitioners, business, faith and community leaders about links between health and the natural environment, the announcement said. Camilla will visit a food literacy project at a local farm.
While the trip is the prince's first visit to Louisville, his fellow Windsors have visited the River City multiple times for the Kentucky Derby, including: his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, in 2007; his aunt, Princess Margaret attended in 1974; and his great uncle, Edward, the Duke of Windsor and former king, attended in 1951.
