1 dead, 12 injured in shootings on the Fourth of July in St. Louis

A 12-year-old girl is among the shooting victims.

ST. LOUIS – Police are investigating nine separate shooting incidents that left one person dead and 12 people injured on the Fourth of July.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the first shooting occurred around 8:40 p.m. near Vandeventer and Maffit. Police responded to a call for a shooting where a 56-year-old man was suffering from a gunshot wound. He told police he was driving when a 46-year-old woman’s car hit his car. The man told police a suspect had a gun and fired multiple gunshots. The 46-year-old woman was also injured, but it’s unclear if she was hit by gunfire. Police said both victims were transported to a hospital.

Around 9:50 p.m., police responded to Save-A-Lot in the Baden neighborhood where five teens said they were in the parking lot when someone started firing gunshots from a black car. A 15-year-old boy had a gunshot wound to his buttocks and a 17-year-old boy suffered a gunshot wound to his thigh. Both boys were transported to a hospital.

Five minutes later, police responded to the 2900 block of Gamble where a 21-year-old man was found shot in the head. He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. He’s been identified as Ramon Gibbs. A 41-year-old man was also shot in the incident and was transported to a hospital.  Anyone with information should contact CrimeStoppers at 866-371-8477.

A man in his 30s was found shot near Oriole and Thekla around 10:50 p.m. Police said he was suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was transported to a hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

Ten minutes later, police responded to Cass and Hogan where a 17-year-old boy said he was riding in a car when he thought he heard fireworks and then felt pain immediately to his foot. He was transported to a hospital by private conveyance where he was found to have a gunshot wound to his foot.

At the time same – a 19-year-old woman and a 21-year-old woman showed up to a hospital after they were injured in a shooting. The victims told police they were driving near Natural Bridge and Darby when they heard gunshots.

Two people were watching fireworks on their porch in the 4900 block of Lexington when they heard multiple gunshots in the area around 11:10 p.m. A 53-year-old woman said she felt pain and saw metal fragment on her clothing. She was transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

Around 11:30 p.m., a woman was transported to a hospital by private conveyance after she said she was outside when unknown suspects leaned out of a car window and fired gunshots at her. She was hit in the neck, torso and thigh.

Just after midnight, a 12-year-old girl was shot in the head in the 500 block of Era. A 46-year-old woman told police she and the victim were inside a car when they heard gunshots. The girl was transported to a hospital.
