19-year-old charged with tampering with evidence in shooting of teen outside Overland McDonald's

Joseph Jordan III was charged with tampering with physical evidence Thursday in connection with the Monday afternoon shooting death of Justice Devaun Johnson.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A 19-year-old former Kirkwood football player was arrested and charged with tampering with evidence in the Monday night shooting death of a teenager outside an Overland McDonald's.

Joseph Jordan III was charged with tampering with physical evidence Thursday in connection with the Monday afternoon shooting death of Justice Devaun Johnson. Jordan is being held on $100,000 bond.

Police and paramedics responded around 7:15 p.m. on Monday to the fast food restaurant at Page Avenue and Ashby Road in Overland where they found Johnson shot.

Johnson attended Festus High School and was a quarterback on the football team from his freshman year to the beginning of his junior year before transferring to Kirkwood. Jordan was a senior on Kirkwood's football team in 2016 and graduated in 2017.

A major case squad detective said more charges are expected in the case tomorrow, but did not say if those charges would be against Jordan or someone else.
