ST. LOUIS — Two people were taken into custody after they continued to flee from police even after having their tires popped Thursday afternoon.

Police first spotted a car they believed was related to burglary Thursday afternoon at around 1. When the marked police car attempted to get the car to pull over, police said the car sped off.

Officers said they were able to use spike strips near Belt and Natural Bridge to pop the tires on the fleeing car, but the driver continued to flee. The low-speed chase continued into St. Louis County before the car finally came to an end.

Both people jumped out of the car and tried to get away, but officers said they were able to catch both of them.

An officer suffered a hand injury while chasing them down. The officer was taken from the scene for treatment.

No charges have been filed. The investigation is ongoing.
