ST. LOUIS COUNTY – Two men are facing charges in connection to a St. Louis County employee’s death.
Craig LeFebvre was killed while at a MetroLink bus stop when a bullet intended for someone else hit him in August 2018.
He was a spokesperson for the St. Louis County Health Department.
Five months later, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office announced charges against Armani McKinley, 20, and Antreion Betts, 19. Both men are charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal action and robbery.
According to court documents, a man told police McKinley robbed him at gunpoint. The robbery victim, then pointed a gun back at McKinley and fired a shot. The shot unintentionally hit LeFebvre. McKinley was also grazed by the bullet, police said.
Betts’ fingerprints were recovered from the robbery victim’s personal property.
Detectives reviewed surveillance video from the Metro station and found the robbery victim was interacting with a group of people, including McKinley right before the shooting. It also showed him passing a firearm to another person right after the shooting.
