2 people found dead inside Granite City home, police say

GRANITE CITY, Ill — Police are investigating after two people were found dead inside a Granite City, Illinois, home on Saturday.

According to the Madison County Sheriff's Office, officers responded to a 911 call around 3 p.m. in the 1000 block of Bruns Road.

Officers arrived to find the residents of the house dead, police said. The sheriff's office identified the victims Tuesday as 88-year-old Thomas Teitloff and 39-year-old Jessica White. 

Police said an initial investigation found that Teitloff killed White before he took his own life. Both were pronounced dead at the scene by the Madison County Coroner's Office.

The sheriff's office said both had lived in the residence and had lived together for an extended period to time before the incident on Saturday.

No further information regarding the incident was released.

Police said the incident appears to be an apparent murder-suicide and there is no threat to the community.

An investigation is ongoing.
