ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — Two men are facing charges after threats led to a hit-and-run in St. Louis County earlier this month.
Calvin Smith, 24, was charged with third-degree harassment and Jordan Larenzo, 25, was charged with first-degree assault in two incidents prosecutors say are interconnected.
According to Bridgeton police, Smith sent Larenzo a video on June 3 of Larenzo's family and threatened to kidnap them. Police said it was not the first time Smith has threatened Larenzo's family.
Later that day, officers responded to a report of a man being struck by a car on St. Charles Rock Road. When they arrived, they said they found Smith bleeding and injured. Witnesses told police a man in a black SUV struck Smith and drove away.
Police said while they were investigating, Larenzo drove up in a black SUV and motioned for officers to come over to talk. While talking with officers, Larenzo admitted to hitting Smith with his car, according to a release from prosecutors.
If convicted, Smith could face up to four years in prison. Larenzo could be sentenced to anywhere from 10 to 30 years in prison if convicted.
