ST. LOUIS — An innocent bystander was shot by a stray bullet Thursday in north St. Louis.
The bystander, a 59-year-old man, was sitting on his porch in the Greater Ville neighborhood when he was struck by gunfire, a preliminary report from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said.
According to police, two other men arguing nearby began shooting at one another. The shooters, a 42-year-old man and a 67-year-old man, shot one another and the bystander.
Police were responding to reports of a shooting in the 4400 block of Ashland Avenue around 4:30 p.m. and found three people with gunshot wounds.
The two shooters and the bystander were taken to the hospital. Police took the 67-year-old man into custody after he received medical treatment.
The 42-year-old man will also be taken into custody after doctors say he's fit for confinement, an SLMPD spokesperson said.
