ST. LOUIS — The second and final suspect charged in connection with a deadly shooting in the Central West End in 2023 was sentenced Monday.
Syntrell Howard, 23, was sentenced to 18 years in prison after entering a plea deal in connection with the deadly shooting of 29-year-old Miguel Johnson.
Charges said after an argument at an apartment in the 4400 block of Forest Park Parkway, Howard and another man, 23-year-old Ta'Shaun Patterson, chased the victim and shot him dead on the sidewalk near Laclede and North Taylor Avenue.
Howard was set to go to trial for first-degree murder, but accepted a plea deal on Monday. As part of the deal, the murder charge was reduced to one count of voluntary manslaughter. He also pleaded guilty to armed criminal action and unlawful gun possession.
He was sentenced to 18 years in prison.
Patterson was sentenced to 18 years in prison in August.
