The suspect was taken into custody, and the gun was found inside the vehicle, police said.

ST CHARLES, Mo. — A woman is fighting for her life after she was shot in the neck at a parking garage near Ameristar Casino in St. Charles early Saturday morning.

The woman was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and rushed into emergency surgery, according to the police report. Police said she was in critical condition.

Officers with the St. Charles Police Department responded to the shooting call at the casino. When officers responded, they found a 27-year-old woman with a bullet-related injury in her neck, police said. She told the officers at the scene that her boyfriend, a 50-year-old St. Louis man, shot her.

Police obtained the casino's surveillance video of the incident during the initial investigation.

The footage shows the woman sitting in the driver's seat of the suspect's vehicle on the second level of the parking garage, police said. That's when the driver's door opened.

Police said the footage showed the suspect forced the woman back into the vehicle, where there was further struggle.
