1 dead after triple shooting in Delmar Loop early Thursday

Police said a man was shot and killed, and two women victims were shot and injured.

ST. LOUIS — One person was killed in a triple shooting early Thursday morning in the Delmar Loop.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting was reported just after 2 a.m. Thursday in front of Pin-Up Bowl, located at 6191 Delmar Blvd.

The man who was killed was shot in the chest and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

A 5 On Your Side photographer saw more than a dozen evidence markers littering the street outside the business.

Police initially said there were two shooting victims but later said three people were shot. One of the victims, a male, was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting.

Two women were injured in the shooting and dropped off at an area hospital shortly after the shooting.

Bernard Westfall lives in the Delmar Loop and witnessed the moments before the shooting.

"I was walking past, I was having a cigarette, and that's when I heard the people yelling. He was like, 'put it down, put it down,' and the next thing you know, he shot him," Westfall said.

One of the women was shot in the left thigh. Police said that the second woman was shot in the stomach, right hand and right hip. Police said they were in critical condition with stable vital signs while receiving treatment at the hospital.

Michael Miller is visiting from Los Angeles, left Pin-Up Bowl and was on his way back to the Moonrise Hotel just minutes before shots were fired.

"I walked right by them. I saw them and walked right by them. I walked back into my room, and the shooting started. I waited a few minutes until the cops showed up and then I walked downstairs. There was an ER person doing CPR on one of the people that was down with someone standing next to them, their face very distraught," Miller said.

A private security guard said he believes this shooting could have been prevented with more protection and is hoping to work with the owner.

"I feel that our services will do him really well in the area, especially with the heightened increase in crime and with 4/20 coming up, along with Cinco De Mayo," said Jay Parker, operations Manager for Statewide Protection Services.

But, Westfall feels differently.

"I believe, as people, we should be able to police ourselves, and if we can't police ourselves and deal with our own people, why do we need outside help? Don't be afraid to come down here. It's great times down here. Just make sure you know what you're doing. Come with a friend, don't come alone, and if you're gonna come alone, take an Uber," Westfall said.

The Homicide Division assumed the ongoing investigation.

There were no other details available as of Thursday morning.

This isn't the first shooting that's occurred outside the Pin-Up Bowl.

Back in February 2022, a woman was caught in the crossfire as two men shot at each other outside of the bowling alley. She was shot in the back and survived the shooting.

5 On Your Side has reached out to the owner of Pin-Up Bowl but has yet to hear back.
