Belleville men facing charges after trooper's car struck by gunfire during pursuit

The Illinois State Police trooper was not injured.

BELLEVILLE, Ill. — Three Belleville men were charged in connection with a carjacking in St. Louis that ended in Illinois after a pursuit late last month.

St. Clair County prosecutors charged Davon McLorn, 29, with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated discharge of a firearm at a peace officer, and Kasey T. Richardson, 27, with aggravated unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle and aggravated fleeing. All of the charges are felonies.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office also issued felony charges of first-degree robbery and armed criminal action against Abduelah Jones, 26.

At about 8 p.m. on Jan 27, St. Louis police responded to a report of a carjacking near Locust and 6th street in downtown St. Louis involving a blue Nissan Sentra.

About an hour and a half later, an Illinois State Police trooper saw the stolen Nissan near 38th and State street in East St. Louis.

The trooper tried to stop the stolen Nissan, but McLorn, Richardson and Jones fled, police said.

During the pursuit, police said McLorn fired several shots at the trooper from the Nissan's passenger side, striking his squad car several times. The trooper was not injured.

The Nissan later crashed and the trio ran from the scene. McLorn, Richardson and Jones were later identified and taken into custody following an investigation.

Jones and Richardson were being held at the St. Clair County Jail and McLorn was being held at the East St. Louis Jail.
