ST. LOUIS — A man died Monday morning after a shooting at a gas station near downtown St. Louis.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the fatal shooting occurred at about 6:20 a.m. at the BP located at 1401 Chouteau Avenue. There, police said a man was found dead in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to the head.
Police said preliminary investigation revealed the incident resulted from a confrontation regarding an alleged stolen vehicle in which the victim confronted the suspects.
At the scene, officers identified four suspects who drove away in a car. Police initiated a pursuit, which ended with a "minor crash" at 18th Street and Delmar Boulevard, the department said.
Three teen boys were taken into custody and remanded to the juvenile court. The fourth suspect, a teenage girl, was able to escape.
Police identified the victim Tuesday as 43-year-old Carlos Morton of St. Louis.
