ST. LOUIS — St. Louis police are investigating after three men claimed to be police officers while burglarizing a home and stealing a car early Tuesday morning.
According to an incident report from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the burglary happened at about 1:30 Tuesday morning in the 5100 block of N. Norwood Avenue.
The incident report said a man and a woman were sleeping inside the home when three men broke in saying they were police officers. Two of the men held the woman at gunpoint while the third stole car keys, cash and property.
All three men then got into the stolen car and sped away.
Police said they spotted the car a short time later, but the driver was able to get away. The stolen car was found abandoned in an alley about three miles from the home where it was taken.
The victims were not hurt during the break-in.
The investigation is ongoing.
