Belleville East High School was briefly placed on lockdown Thursday morning after a police chase ended in the parking lot of the school.
Officers with the Belleville Police Department say a couple of vehicle burglaries occurred at the O'Fallon, Ill. YMCA. They spotted one of the suspect's vehicles in the parking lot of the Belleville East YMCA shortly before 9:00 a.m.
When officers arrived at the parking lot, the suspects fled. One of the suspects, 19-year-old Signmund Brown, jumped out of the car at a stop and ran away on foot. He was arrested on the campus of Southwestern Illinois College.
The driver, 25-year-old Johnathan E. Brown, continued leading officers on a chase and eventually stopped in the parking lot of Belleville East High School and ran into a wooded area near the campus. He was arrested a short time later.
Both are being held at the Belleville Police Department, at a bond of $250,000.
