Caseyville police searching for man who police say stole from construction site of new elementary school

Caseyville police said around 16 items were taken with a value of about $1,400.

CASEYVILLE, Ill. — The Caseyville Police Department is searching for a man suspected of stealing from a construction site of a new elementary school.

The man was first seen on surveillance video at the school at about 11:10 p.m. on March 18. The new school is being built next to the current elementary school at 433 S. 2nd St.

Caseyville police said he was on the scene for around two hours and around 16 items were taken with a value of about $1,400.

The vehicle of interest is believed to be a Ford F250 or F350 and had a flatbed with toolboxes along the rails and in the bed, police said. The man was seen wearing blue cowboy boots.

Residents in the area are asked to check their home surveillance footage for any video of the man.
