MILLSTADT, Ill. — The surveillance video is upsetting to Brian Triska for many reasons.
"I'm mad about it. There are rules to life. You just don't screw around with someone else's property like their car," said a frustrated Brian Triska.
Triska said last Sunday night, someone in a dark-colored SUV drove down his dark street on Zingg Road in unincorporated Millstadt, pulled up to his driveway and fired a single bullet right into the back of Triska's vehicle. It was parked outside his home.
"Kind of makes your stomach stir. Shattered glass was all over the ground and some got inside my Yukon," Triska said.
"We could have pulled up into the driveway. My two kids could have been sitting in the back seat. They could have gotten hit by a bullet or shattered glass and been injured. Thank God no one was here or in the truck at the time," said Brian.
The Triskas shared the surveillance video with St.Clair County sheriff's deputies.
After the couple called the sheriff's office and filed a police report, they went online and learned three of their neighbors' parked cars also had been shot at. Brian Triska said someone even fired a bullet at at least two of his neighbors' homes.
"We are very nervous right now. We wonder if it's gonna happen again or not? Do we now have to park somewhere else because we're afraid in our driveway? It's all just so terrifying," said Triska's wife, Barbara.
The couple said the surveillance video does not get a good glimpse of the driver's face.
Anyone who may have information about any of the random shootings is asked to call the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office at (618) 277-3505.
