CHESTERFIELD, Mo. — A Defiance woman was charged Thursday after police say she drove onto the runway at an airport.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office charged a 54-year-old woman with first-degree property damage, resisting arrest for a felony and first-degree trespassing and fourth-degree assault.
The St. Louis County Police Department arrested the woman drove her car on the runway at Spirit of St. Louis Airport Thursday afternoon. At around 1 p.m., officers arrived and watched the woman drive her minivan onto the taxi-way.
After turning on emergency equipment, police pursued the woman and tried to pull her over, but she refused to stop.
Airport staff and the police tried to block the minivan. Police said when the woman would stop the car, police would approach the car and she would threaten to kill the police officer.
Police also said that the woman refused to follow commands given by police.
The woman eventually drove off the taxi-way near the south runway, running the minivan into into a police car.
Police arrested the woman. She was being held on a $50,000 bond.
No injuries were reported.
