ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A St. Louis man was charged Thursday in the killing of a man and a woman in a shooting in September, the St. Louis County Police Department said.
Davon Anthony Reid, 33, was charged with two counts each of first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the deaths of Denetrice Jackson and Reginald Brandy.
Police said on Sept. 9, Jackson and Brandy were shot and killed in their car near West Florissant Avenue and Lucas and Hunt Road. A dark SUV was seen on camera in the area both before and after the shooting.
Police used the SUV's plate numbers to locate the SUV's owner, who was Brandy's former girlfriend. She said Reid had her vehicle at the time of the shooting.
Police searched the SUV and found shell casings that matched casings at the scene. They also searched the home and found a 9mm magazine in Reid's bedside along with some documents that belonged to him.
Police said they confirmed Reid's phone was in the area of the shooting at the time it took place, and he admitted it was his phone number.
Reid was being held in St. Louis County on $1 million bond.
