FENTON, Mo. — Two men have been charged with multiple felonies the day after a pickup they were traveling in crashed into several vehicles on Highway 30, temporarily closing the highway in unincorporated Fenton, Jefferson County Sheriff Dave Marshak announced Tuesday.
Mark E. Altman of Imperial has been charged with aggravated fleeing a stop or detention, a class D felony that is punishable by up to seven years in prison, and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, which are class C felonies that carry penalties of three to 10 years in prison each, court records show. The Sheriff’s Office reported Altman’s fleeing charge is under the recently enacted “Valentine’s Law,” which increases the penalty for fleeing a traffic stop.
Corey C. Hargrave of St. Louis has been charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, according to court documents.
Court records show that Altman and Hargrave are both convicted felons and are not allowed to be in possession of guns. The Sheriff’s Office reportedly found two guns in the pickup the two men were traveling in before being arrested.
