ST. LOUIS — Police are investigating a shooting after a child was struck by gunfire early Saturday morning.
A 12-year-old boy was shot in the 1500 block of Newhouse Avenue. The shooting happened around 1 a.m., according to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
SLMPD officers were sent to investigate reports of a shooting after police dispatchers got a call reporting the shooting as soon as it happened.
When officers arrived at the scene, they saw a 12-year-old boy with a gunshot wound, police said.
An ambulance with Emergency Medical Services took the victim to a hospital. Police said the victim's condition was stable.
Police did not share the circumstances behind the shooting or a description of the suspect(s).
