1 dead, suspect in custody after Tuesday shooting in Riverview

RIVERVIEW, Mo. — Detectives with the St. Louis County Police Department's Crimes Against Persons unit are investigating a fatal shooting that happened in the City of Riverview early Tuesday morning. Police said a suspect was taken into custody.

According to the St. Louis County Police Department, just before 6 a.m. Tuesday, officers with the Riverview Police Department responded to a call for help regarding a shooting that happened in the 10000 block of Sheldon Drive. Responding officers found a man with gunshot wounds. 

The victim was taken to a hospital where he did not survive his injuries, police said. He was identified Wednesday morning as 24-year-old Kelton Dukes of St. Louis. 

The Riverview Police Department requested St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons to handle the investigation. 

A suspect is in custody, according to the department. 

Police did not release information regarding the relationship between the suspect and the victim. They also did not release any information regarding the circumstances that led up to the fatal shooting. 

The investigation is ongoing. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
