CLAYTON, Mo. — Police are investigating after a deadly shooting early Monday morning in Clayton.
According to the Clayton Police Department, the shooting happened just before 5:30 a.m. at an apartment building in the 7500 block of Wydown Boulevard. Officers arrived at the scene to find a victim with a gunshot wound.
No other information was shared about the victim or what led up to the shooting.
“Just to hear that the person hasn’t been caught or they don’t know the motives behind what happened is a little concerning," said Emma Dunavin.
At the scene, a neighbor told 5 On Your Side she had heard six gunshots, and police arrived about 10 minutes later.
“It will all depend on what it was about," said Rick Barnes. "Whether it was domestic or a robbery. I’m a little more concerned with a carjacking or robbery. You think of somebody going to work at 5AM, and that’s what really concerns me.”
The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis was activated to assist with the homicide investigation.
Anyone with information regarding the shooting was asked to call 314-290-8444.
