COLLINSVILLE, Ill. — A firehouse in Collinsville, Illinois, was damaged early Friday morning, according to their social media post.
Residents near the State Park Volunteer Fire Department's firehouse told police that at about 4 a.m. one man was busting windows and doors at the station on Arlington Avenue.
Witnesses were able to identify the vandal as a community member, the social media post said.
Police took a suspect into custody, Madison County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Marcos Pulido said. The suspect was transported to a hospital for an unrelated injury and also showed signs of being influenced by an unknown substance.
The man is facing felony charges, according to Pulido.
The fire department commended the Madison County Sheriff's Office for their swift response.
"Our members have been here all morning cleaning and patching up until repairs can be made," the department said.
