ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - A convicted sexual predator who left a halfway house in July 2013 was arrested Monday night in St. Louis, the Illinois Department of Corrections said.
According to authorities, 40-year-old Frederick Buettner went missing July 8 from a halfway house in East St. Louis. He'd been living there since May 24. Buettner had been wearing an ankle monitoring device.
Buettner was 13 months from finishing a 10-year sentence after being convicted of predatory criminal sexual assault against a young female relative. That crime happened in Madison County, Illinois.
Prior to that conviction, the Missouri Department of Corrections said Buettner was convicted in June 2004 of two counts of endangering the welfare of a child in Warren County and sentenced to four years.
Frederick Buettner remains in custody at the St. Louis Criminal Justice Center.
