Court rejects appeal of former 'Sweetie Pie's' star sentenced to life in federal prison

Norman and his family are known for the reality TV show "Welcome to Sweetie Pie's."

ST. LOUIS — A former reality TV star was denied an appeal after he was convicted of murder-for-hire in St. Louis last year.

Tim Norman was sentenced to life in federal prison in March 2023 for murder-for-hire against his nephew, Andre Montgomery Jr. Montgomery died in 2016, two years after Norman took out a life insurance policy on him.

A court of appeals ruled that the sentence would stay in place.

Norman and his family were known for the reality TV show "Welcome to Sweetie Pie's" on the Oprah Winfrey Network.

Norman argued in his appeal that certain pieces of evidence and the testimony of certain witnesses prejudiced the jury against him. The court argued that jury instructions negated these issues.
