NORMANDY, Mo. — A cyclist was struck and killed Saturday while riding on the St. Vincent Greenway, Normandy police said.

A press release from the Normandy Police Department said the man was riding his bike when he was struck at about 10:25 Saturday morning near the 1600 block of Castle Park Drive. The man was rushed to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the car, a 22-year-old woman, was taken into custody at the scene of the crash. The crash investigation is ongoing, and the release said charges will be presented to the St. Louis County Prosecutor's Office this week.

"We encourage all motorists to slow down and remain vigilant for cyclists and pedestrians, especially in areas where both share the roadways," the release said. "Your attention and caution can prevent tragic incidents like this from occurring."
