Tractor trailer hits, kills man on I-44 before leaving scene, troopers say

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. — Missouri State Highway Patrol is looking for the driver of a tractor trailer suspected of causing a deadly crash Monday afternoon.

Troopers said at around 1:30 p.m., there was a fatal crash involving a tractor trailer and pedestrian on Interstate 44 eastbound near the 225 marker in Sullivan, Franklin County.

The department said the male pedestrian was changing a tire on a disabled vehicle when he was struck, and that the tractor trailer left the scene.

Highway Patrol described the vehicle as a maroon tractor trailer with "ego" marking with a blue and black outline. It said the vehicle had damage to the front passenger side of the cab.
