ALTON, Ill. — A man was shot and killed Tuesday night inside an Alton, Illinois, home.
At about 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, police received reports of gunshots in the 900 block of East 7th Street, Alton Police Chief Jarrett Ford said. Officers arrived at the scene to find a man who had been shot inside a home.
The Alton Fire Department took the man to an area hospital for treatment, and he later died, the chief said.
An initial investigation revealed the shooting was a domestic incident, Ford said, and detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division worked throughout the night and into Wednesday morning following up on leads with assistance from Illinois State Police, the St. Louis County Police Department and St. Louis Medical Examiner's Office.
