ST. LOUIS — A shooting near Fairground Park left a man dead late Monday night in north St. Louis.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation near the intersection of Vandeventer and Kossuth avenues just before 11 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a 30-year-old man on the sidewalk suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim was identified as Markell Byrd.
The Homicide Division assumed the investigation.
