Shooting after apparent argument at south St. Louis gas station leaves 1 dead, 1 injured

ST. LOUIS — A shooting in south St. Louis' Marine Villa neighborhood left a man dead and another injured Sunday night.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called to a local hospital at about 9:50 p.m. Sunday after two men, both 38 years old, were dropped off with bullet-related injuries. One man died at the hospital, and the other was critically injured.

Preliminary investigation revealed the shooting happened at the MotoMart at 3751 South Jefferson Ave., located in the city's Gravois Park neighborhood. Police said it appeared the surviving man was the suspect in the incident, and the man who died returned fire, wounding him.

The Homicide Division assumed the ongoing investigation.

The Bullet Related Injury Clinic (BRIC) is a community-based clinic in St. Louis that helps people heal after they have been injured by a bullet. The BRIC was established to help people who are discharged from the emergency department after being shot.
