Delivery driver shot trying to retrieve mistakenly delivered food

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. — A delivery driver was shot in St. Charles County Sunday morning after they mistakenly delivered food to a residence and tried picking it up again.

Dwayne Jones was arrested at the scene in connection with the shooting.

The St. Charles County Police Department says the victim had mistakenly delivered a food order to a residence at about 12:24 a.m. They tried to retrieve the food order, which was still outside. Police say Jones shot the delivery driver in the driveway of the residence.

The victim was shot in the abdomen and had life-threatening injuries. They were rushed to the hospital.

The probable cause statement says Jones was charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action.
