ST. LOUIS — Surveillance footage from Saturday morning shows two men breaking into a local business that has served St. Louis since 1913.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department has confirmed that Crown Candy Kitchen in North St. Louis was burglarized around 4 a.m.

Police said they were contacted after an employee arrived at 7 a.m. and discovered a busted glass door upon entering the establishment.

As they ran into the store, the two men in the footage had their faces concealed with masks and hoods. They ran straight to the cash register, opened it, and saw loose change shortly before running out of the store.

Approximately $5 in coins were stolen from the cash register, according to the police report.

The owner, Andy Karandazieff, shared on social media that the store will be closed for repairs and maintenance from Sept. 23 to Sept. 26.

Karandazieff also said that the burglars did $1500 in damage to the store.

"Hey. Don’t even say it’s time to move because that ain’t happening. We stay for the good people down here," he said.
