Double shooting in north St. Louis leaves 19-year-olds hospitalized

Two men were shot Thursday night at the intersection of Aldine and Billups avenues.

ST. LOUIS — Two 19-year-olds were hospitalized late Thursday night after being shot multiple times in St. Louis' The Ville neighborhood.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the two men were shot at about 9:15 p.m. Thursday when they were stopped in their car by a person standing at the intersection of Aldine and Billups avenues. The men drove themselves to the hospital after being shot.

One man was shot in the chest and back, and the other was shot in his chest, arm and face, police said. Both were listed as having stable vital signs Friday morning. A third person in the car was uninjured and fled the area after the shooting.

Police contacted the third person to get a witness statement, but he never responded.

Police said recovered from the victims' car: a rifle, a handgun, a backpack with a scale and what was suspected to be marijuana.

As of Friday morning, police had not said whether they had any suspects.
