Dozens of cars broken into in LaSalle, Soulard neighborhoods

The break-ins occurred sometime between Thursday night and Friday morning.

ST. LOUIS – Police are investigating after a rash of car break-ins in two St. Louis neighborhoods.

Nineteen vehicles were broken into or damaged in the 900 block of Park Avenue in St. Louis’ LaSalle neighborhood. Fifteen vehicles were broken into or damaged in the 1500 block of South 8th Street in the Soulard neighborhood.

The break-ins occurred sometime between Thursday night and Friday morning.

Victims said investigators told them the bad guys may have been looking for guns.

Glass repairman David Staszkoiewicz of Glass and More, Inc. said he sees this kind of thing in the city almost every day.

“I just did a guy yesterday. It's the second time we've done him in a month and he's ready to camp our next to his car,” Staszkoiewicz said with a laugh.

Most victims said they'll have to pay out of pocket for repairs. The bills can run anywhere from $100 to almost $300.

St. Louis Police said there may be more victims who have yet to report the damage to their cars.

The investigation is ongoing.
