ST. LOUIS — A Metro East rapper was shot and killed while driving on the Stan Musial Veterans Memorial Bridge late Sunday night, Illinois State Police said.
According to a press release from ISP, the shooting happened in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 at around 10:50 p.m. Police said the driver of a white SUV was struck by gunfire and pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting.
Monday afternoon, he was identified as 35-year-old Troy A. Edwards, who was also a rapper known by his stage name Mudd Bughatti.
Police said a passenger in the SUV was taken to the hospital for treatment. The passenger's injuries were not life-threatening.
The highway was closed from about 11 p.m. to 2:15 a.m. for a police investigation.
No other information was provided.
ISP said the highway has since reopened, but the investigation remains ongoing.
