ST. LOUIS — A driver suspected of driving while intoxicated struck a police vehicle, then two other cars in St. Louis Sunday night.

The driver and two St. Louis Metropolitan Police officers were taken to the hospital. The officers were fine following the wreck.

Police said the crash happened near South Kingshighway and Manchester Avenue around 11:30 p.m. The two officers were inside a Chevrolet Tahoe marked with SLMPD insignia. The Tahoe was stopped at a red light heading southbound on Kingshighway.

A driver in a Hummer traveling northbound crossed Manchester Avenue and struck the police SUV on the driver side. The Hummer then struck the vehicle behind the police SUV. A wheel from the Hummer struck a third vehicle.

The driver of the Hummer had a strong smell of alcohol, police said. The 27-year-old man was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. The man was arrested on suspicion of Driving While Intoxicated, police said.
