Homicide investigation underway after man found dead in Dutchtown

Crime scene tape also surrounded a car that appeared to be crashed in the middle of the street.

ST. LOUIS — A man was killed in south St. Louis’ Dutchtown neighborhood early Monday morning.

The call came in at 1 a.m. in the 4600 block of Alaska. Officers arrived to find a man dead at the scene with possible gunshot wounds. Police are investigating the incident as a homicide.

Officers taped off the entire block between Taft and Virginia while they processed the scene and collected evidence. Crime scene tape also surrounded a car that appeared to be crashed in the middle of the street.

Police have not released any further details at this time.

The neighborhood is inside one of Police Chief John Hayden’s three ‘rectangles’—these are areas with more city police on patrol in hopes of bringing down the crime rates.
