ST. LOUIS COUNTY – A 26-year-old man is in custody after North County Police Cooperative responded to St. Louis Children’s Hospital for a possible child abuse case involving his 2-month-old baby girl, Malayna Mason.
Wayne Mason, of Charlack, who is a stay at home dad, was arrested on Jan. 9 after the baby was taken to St. Louis Children's Hospital in serious condition and suffering from a brain injury, broken shoulder and broken ribs.
The incident occurred between Dec. 27, 2017 and Jan. 9, 2018. The mother is not a suspect.
Mason remains in custody with a $500,000 bond.
“This is a very troubling case. Our hopes and prayers go out to baby Malayna,” Chief Tim Swope said in a press release.
The investigation is ongoing.
