St. Louis firefighter pleads guilty to stealing wallet at fatal crash scene

Arnold Britt used credit cards from a teenager who survived a deadly crash near Forest Park Avenue and South Grand Boulevard in February 2023.

ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis firefighter pleaded guilty Monday to stealing a victim's wallet after a deadly crash and using the victim's credit card.

Christopher King with the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office said Arnold Britt pleaded guilty to the charges of receiving stolen property and fraudulent use of a credit/debit device.

He said Britt entered an open plea with no agreement with the state, and that the Attorney's Office recommends five years in prison for the stolen property charge and one year in prison for the fraudulent use charge.

The recommendation is for the terms to be served concurrently, meaning they would be served at the same time.

A sentencing hearing is set for Sept. 6.

Police said Britt used credit cards from an 18-year-old man who survived a crash that killed four people near Forest Park Avenue and South Grand Boulevard in Feb. 2023.

“It's hurtful,” the victim, Seven Robinson, said in an interview with 5 On Your Side last year. “It wasn't just an accident, it was the deaths of youth.

“You took from people that could have been dead.”
