ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — A Florissant, Missouri, man was convicted of murder Thursday for killing his ex-wife in 2021.
A St. Louis County jury convicted Christopher Turner of first-degree murder and armed criminal action for the shooting death of Charlisa Turner on July 31, 2021.
According to a press release from the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, the murder was caught on video surveillance, which was played for the jury during the trial.
The video shows Christopher Turner walking up to Charlisa, shooting her twice and walking back to his car. He then returns and shoots her approximately eight more times.
The Turners had three children together. They were living with Charlisa at the time of her death and are all 6 and younger.
Christopher Turner testified in his own defense, but the jury denied his testimony.
“This was one of the most cold-blooded murders I have ever seen, and I am grateful for the home surveillance video that enabled the jury to see this heartless murder and render the appropriate verdict," St. Louis County Prosecutor Wesley Bell said. "I pray it will provide Charlisa Turner’s family, especially her children, some solace knowing her murderer will spend the rest of his life behind bars.”
Murder 1st Degree carries the mandatory penalty of life in prison without eligibility for parole.
