PAGEDALE, Mo. — A man was charged after police said he fatally shot another man during an altercation Friday night at a Pagedale birthday party.
St. Louis County prosecutors charged Darrell Proudie, 73, with felony second-degree murder and armed criminal action.
According to charging documents, officers from the Pagedale Police Department responded Friday night to a shooting in the 1500 block of Faris Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found Frederick Sims lying on the staircase at the rear of the home. He had been shot multiple times and died of his injuries.
An investigation found that Sims, Sims' wife and Proudie were guests at a birthday party at the home. During the party, Proudie "made several public and lewd advances toward the victim's wife," according to police.
Sims, 48, confronted Proudie. When Sims tripped and fell, Proudie grabbed a gun and shot Sims multiple times, police said.
Proudie was also shot and was taken to a St. Louis area hospital. It's unclear who shot him.
As of Monday afternoon, Proudie remained hospitalized. A judge ordered he be held on a $500,000 bond.
