EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. — A shooting at an auto parts store in East St. Louis left a man dead Sunday evening.
According to Illinois State Police, officers responded to the report of a shooting just before 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the O'Reilly Auto Parts located at 2614 State Street. At the store, they found a man who had been struck by gunfire.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. identified the man as 31-year-old Dantrell Smith of East St. Louis.
Monday morning, a 5 On Your Side photographer captured the entrance of the auto parts store boarded up with wood.
The investigation into the deadly shooting remained ongoing.
